CTOnews.com, September 3 (Xinhua)-- Musk said that SpaceX aims to complete 100 launches in 2023, while the company has broken the previous record in 2022 and will continue to set records in the future.

According to public data, after several years of stagnation, SpaceX will launch about 15-20 times a year between 2017 and 2019, and as Starlink enters the construction phase, the number of launches has suddenly doubled from 2019 to 2020.

For SpaceX, 2020 seems to be an attempt, and it turns out that SpaceX has the ability to launch a Falcon 9 rocket every two weeks. In that year, SpaceX made 26 launches, breaking the record of 21 launches set in 2018.

In the first half of 2021, SpaceX launched 20 satellites, 50 per cent faster than in 2020. In the second half of the year, there were two gaps in SpaceX, so SpaceX launched another 11 times in the second half of the year. Finally, SpaceX completed six launches in the first four weeks of the year, proving its ability to launch 78 times a year.

So far, 2022 has maintained or even improved the launch speed of the last weeks of 2021.

In the first half of this year, SpaceX successfully launched 27 Falcon 9 missions, breaking its record of 31 launches in 2021 in almost half the time. If maintained at this rate, a new record of at least 54 times will be achieved this year.

In the second half of this year, SpaceX launched six rockets in July and August, maintaining the rate of 72 launches a year. However, this is considered a fluke. But if SpaceX completes six more launches as planned in September, it could be seen as the new normal for Falcon 9's launch rhythm.

To achieve 100 Falcon launches by 2023, SpaceX needs to find a way to launch an average of eight a month, 33 per cent faster than the current rate.
