CTOnews.com has reported that data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that from January to July this year, the production and sales of new energy vehicles completed 3.279 million and 3.194 million respectively, up 1.2 times year-on-year, of which 2.574 million and 2.51 million pure electric vehicles were produced and sold respectively. 80,000 vehicles, double the year-on-year growth; 702,000 and 674,000 plug-in hybrid vehicles were produced and sold respectively, up 1.9 times and 1.7 times year-on-year respectively; 2094 and 1633 fuel cell vehicles were produced and sold respectively, up 2.1 times and 1.3 times year-on-year respectively.

With the development of electric vehicles, the sales volume of electric vehicles occupies an increasing market share. BYD, which focuses on pure electric vehicles, sold 640,000 vehicles in the first half of 2022, up 160 per cent year-on-year, ranking 14th in new car sales, according to MarkLines, a survey firm, released in August.

Recently, in order to cultivate new economic growth points and promote the consumption of new energy vehicles and green and low-carbon development, the executive meeting of the State Council decided to continue the implementation of the vehicle purchase tax exemption policy for new energy vehicles until the end of 2023. This is the third time since 2014 that China has implemented the policy of exemption from new energy vehicle purchase tax for the first time.
