Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei section of Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-speed Railway along the Yangtze River connects Shanghai City, Jiangsu Province and Anhui Province. The main line has a total length of 553.762km (including 519.046km of newly built railway) and a design speed of 350km/h. It is a double-track high-speed railway.

In terms of routes, this high-speed railway starts from the newly built Shanghai Baoshan Station in Shanghai City and connects to the existing Hefei South Railway Station via Suzhou City, Nantong City, Taizhou City, Yangzhou City, Nanjing City, Chuzhou City and Hefei City in Anhui Province.

CTOnews.com learned that the railway department said that there are 16 stations in Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei section of Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu high-speed railway along the river, and 10 new stations will be built, namely Shanghai Baoshan Station, Chongming Station, Qidong West Station, Haimen North Station, Rugao West Station, Huangqiao Station, Taizhou South Station, Yizheng North Station, Nanjing North Station and Dashu Station. The project supports the construction of Shanghai Baoshan and Nanjing North bullet train operation stations, the construction of Yangzhou East bullet train storage yard and the expansion of Nantong bullet train operation station.
