Beijing, September 2 (Beijing)-Elon Musk's legal team issued a subpoena to Stanford University on Wednesday as part of a legal battle with Twitter over his abandonment of a $44 billion acquisition.

Alex Spiro, Musk's lawyer, said the team was currently seeking "information about Twitter's email account" and wanted records of all "conversations, meetings, discussions, interviews, meetings, negotiations and agreements" between Twitter and Stanford University and related people.

It is reported that Musk studied for a doctorate in physics at Stanford University in 1995, but chose to drop out two days later. In August, Musk tweeted that he had received a letter from a Stanford professor saying he had missed a cutting-edge research.

It's not clear what Musk thinks is the connection between Stanford and the Twitter deal, but Twitter's CEO, Palag Agrawal (Parag Agrawal), has a doctorate in computer science from Stanford University.

Spokesmen for Twitter and Stanford University didn't respond to requests for comment.
