This is the first time that Chinese astronauts have carried out extravehicular activities from the airlock of the experimental module, and it is also the first time that Chen Dong and Liu Yang have carried out extravehicular activities.

18:26, astronaut Chen Dong opened the airlock door of the experimental module. In the follow-up, Chen Dong and Liu Yang worked outside the cabin, and Cai Xuzhe cooperated with the support in the core cabin to complete various established tasks such as the installation of the expansion pump group and the lifting of the panoramic camera in the experimental module. The whole extravehicular activity is expected to take about seven hours.

CTOnews.com learned that the Shenzhou-14 manned spacecraft was successfully launched on June 5. Since then, three astronauts, Chen Dong, Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe, have launched a six-month mission.

According to the China manned Space Engineering Office, since successfully entering the space station assembly on June 5, the Shenzhou 14 astronaut crew has lived and worked in orbit for 88 days. It has successively completed the material transfer of the cargo spacecraft, the on-orbit test of the platform of the space module, the unlocking and testing of the scientific experiment cabinet, the unlocking and on-orbit testing of the small manipulator, and the management of the space station assembly. It has carried out daily work such as on-orbit medical examination, weightlessness protection exercise and space science test, and carried out on-orbit emergency evacuation drills, small manipulator operation, medical rescue drills and other on-orbit training projects.
