CTOnews.com Sept. 1, Lenovo Group announced that it will donate 30 million yuan to Shanghai Jiaotong University within three years for freshmen, innovation and entrepreneurship and scientific and technological innovation personnel training.

According to the cooperation intention reached between Lenovo Group and the school. Lenovo Group will continue to join hands with Shanghai Jiaotong University in the three areas of technology research and development, personnel training and investment incubation, to promote the integration and innovation of industry, university and research, and jointly promote the development of national science and technology. In the donation framework agreement signed by the two sides on talent training, Lenovo Group will provide donations with a total value of 30 million yuan over the past three years in the form of cash and in-kind, teaching guidance and services, including the establishment of Lenovo Group Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fund, the establishment of Lenovo Group freshman grant, and the joint development of intelligent "class competition" projects, the establishment of Association Cup competitions, support for science and technology competitions and teams, etc. Actively encourage students to deeply study and apply intelligent technology, improve the innovative ability of Jiaotong University students, enhance the practical ability of college students, exercise students' ability of teamwork, and respond to the national strategy of cultivating innovative talents.

This donation will invest 10 million yuan in three areas. The first grant of 10 million yuan will help new students in need to complete their studies at ease; the second will set up a "Lenovo Entrepreneurship and Innovation Fund" in 10 million to help Shanghai Jiaotong University optimize the campus innovation and entrepreneurial environment, create an innovative entrepreneurial atmosphere, and support innovative entrepreneurial projects; the third sum of 10 million yuan will be used for both sides to further explore the integration of industry, university and research.

CTOnews.com learned that on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Shanghai Jiaotong University in April last year, Yang Yuanqing personally donated 100 million yuan to his alma mater, Shanghai Jiaotong University, to donate the "Siyuan-1" high-performance computing center, ranking first in the computing power of Chinese universities. In December 2021, Lenovo promised to spend 200 million yuan in the next three years to cooperate with Shanghai Jiaotong University in the areas of scientific research cooperation, talent training and new technology incubation.
