According to public information, he joined Xiaomi in the second half of 2021 and served as vice president and political commissar of Xiaomi Automobile headquarters in Beijing since January 2022. He is responsible for coordinating the integrated management of Xiaomi Automobile, the promotion of special business, and the organization and talent construction of Xiaomi Automobile headquarters in Beijing.

Prior to joining Xiaomi, Yu Liguo served in BAIC as Executive Deputy General Manager of BAIC New Energy, Chairman of BAIC Langu Wisdom and President of Polar Fox. But the main source behind Xiaomi's connection with BAIC is not Yu Jianguo. Before Fengguo joined Xiaomi, Lei Jun went to a brand store in Yizhuang to test drive a polar fox car, and there were rumors that Lei Jun wanted to buy a car factory abroad. The rumor lasted until October 2021, with acquisitions including the second Hyundai plant in Beijing and the Bowo car plant.
