August 31, according to foreign media reports, Google has decided to hand over the Tensor application processor for the next generation smartphone Pixel 8 to Samsung Electronics using 3nm manufacturing process, which is expected to be launched in the second half of next year.

According to foreign media reports, Samsung Electronics OEM will also continue to strengthen the cooperation between the two companies on smartphone application processors.

Google smartphones previously used Qualcomm processors, but with the support of Samsung Electronics, they successfully developed the Tensor processor, which was first used in Pixel 6 smartphones in 2021. The third-generation Tensor processor for Pixel 8 will also be developed jointly by Google and Samsung Electronics.

However, although foreign media say Qualcomm has decided to hand over the third generation of Tensor application processors to Samsung, Qualcomm's orders are still far from being compared with those received by major competitors from Apple. Foreign media reported that Google accounted for only 3% of the global smartphone market at the end of last year, and Google's share in the saturated smartphone market is very low, far from being compared with the huge share of their operating system.

In addition, some experts believe that Google is unlikely to adopt Samsung Electronics's 3nm process process to make Tensor processors for them, because Google's Pixel series smartphones are not expensive high-end computers that require cutting-edge technology, and they expect the processors to be equipped with 4nm process technology.
