Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, August 31, according to the latest research released by Jon Peddie Research, the global PC-based GPU market grew by 84 million in the second quarter of 2022, while PC CPU shipments fell 33.7% year-on-year and 7% month-on-month.
In addition, overall GPU shipments fell 14.9 per cent from the previous quarter. AMD shipments are down 7.6%, Intel shipments are down 9.8%, and Nvidia shipments are down 25.7%.
Analysts believe that GPU will achieve a compound annual growth rate of 3.8 per cent between 2022 and 2026 and reach the installation base of 3.103 billion units by the end of the forecast period. Over the next five years, the penetration of stand-alone graphics cards (dGPU) in PC will grow to 30%.
As shown in the chart below, AMD's overall market share increased by 1.1% from the previous quarter, Intel's market share increased by 2.0%, and Nvidia's market share fell by 3.15%.
Overall adoption of GPU and PC (including integrated and stand-alone GPU, desktops, laptops, and workstations) was 121% in the quarter, down 7.9% from the previous quarter.
The overall PC CPU market fell-7.0% from the previous month, down 33.7% from the same period last year.
Desktop graphics plug-in boards (AIB with stand-alone GPU) are down 22.6% from the previous quarter.
Tablet shipments are the same as in the previous quarter
Analysts point out that GPU has always been a leading indicator in the market because GPU entered the system before the supplier PC shipped. Most semiconductor suppliers expect an average reduction of-2.81% in the next quarter. They instructed 1.98% last quarter, which is too high.
The second quarter is usually lower than the previous quarter, and this quarter is down 12.7% from the previous quarter, below the 10-year average of-10.5%.
Jon Peddie, president of JPR, said: "the overall performance of GPU suppliers in the current quarter was poor compared with the previous quarter. Global events such as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, natural gas supplies in Western Europe, and the subsequent tensions caused by these events have all dampened the European economy; the UK is in a high-inflation recession."
The United States has been able to pass important legislation, such as student loan relief, a stronger climate control bill, which contains a large number of alternative energy provisions, and the long-sought CHIPs bill. These stimulus measures and infrastructure investment will put the United States in a better position over the next decade or more.
"Forecast has never been more challenging, so our and others' predictions will be revised frequently as new data emerge," Peddie said.
In addition, JPR has released a series of reports on the graphics card market and the PC game hardware market, covering the entire market, including systems and accessories, and focusing on 31 countries.
