Beijing, August 31 (Xinhua) recently, owners of Tesla cars in the United States have submitted thousands of complaints about Tesla's frequent maintenance problems, including insufficient number of service centers, limited inventory of replacement parts, poor communication, poor manufacturing quality, and long waiting time for maintenance appointments. Some car owners even found dead rats in their cars.

This is only part of the complaint filed by US consumers with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) about Tesla's service. Of the more than 1000 complaints available against Tesla, more than 120 related to service, delays and specific problems with spare parts.

In addition, Tesla driver said that when he took back his repaired Tesla electric car, he found a dead mouse and rat poison on the car. Another car owner also revealed that after 51 days, when he took back his Model S, he found some parts glued together with adhesive tape.

This is not the first time that Tesla owners have expressed disappointment with Tesla's maintenance service. In 2019, Bloomberg surveyed nearly 5000 Model 3 owners, and most of them were dissatisfied with the maintenance speed and quality of Tesla service center.

Electric cars are supposed to be easier to maintain than internal combustion engines. They do not need to change oil, have fewer parts, and have longer brake pads. Tesla even said that it "designed every Tesla car to eliminate the demand for services." However, among owners in need of service, Tesla drivers go to the service center almost as often as owners of high-end gasoline-powered cars such as Lexus or Audi, according to data shared by consumer research companies.

Tesla's service style also frustrated some customers. Ford, General Motors and others use a network of thousands of dealers and independent mechanics to carry out maintenance work, but it seems that the vast majority of Tesla repairs are often done by Tesla technicians hired or authorized by the company. Tesla also warned customers that damage or failure caused by technicians not certified by Tesla is not within the scope of the company's warranty policy. In the past, Tesla also opposed the legislation of the maintenance rights movement, which advocated making maintenance easier.
