According to BUSINESSKOREA today, GFU data show that German TV sales reached 1.6 billion euros in the first half of this year, of which OLED TVs accounted for 29% of total sales, a simultaneous increase of 7%. Last year, German OLED TV sales reached 1.1 billion euros, an increase of 24% over the same period last year, breaking the 1 billion euro mark for the first time in history.

Europe is not only the world's largest TV market, but also the biggest battlefield for global home appliance manufacturers. In 2021, European TV sales accounted for 23 per cent of global TV sales, with about 2.9 million OLED TVs sold in Europe, accounting for 44 per cent of global OLED TV sales, according to market research firm Omdia. This year, Omdia expects to sell 3.4 million OLED TVs in Europe, up 17% from a year earlier.

Omdia estimates that high-end televisions worth more than $1500 will account for 55 per cent of the European market this year, and that number will exceed 66 per cent next year.

In the first quarter of this year, LG Electronics led the European OLED TV market. Specifically, LG Electronics ranks first with a 65.8% market share of European OLED TVs. Sony ranks second with a 17% market share. Philips ranks third with an 11% market share.

CTOnews.com learned that Omdia released a report on May 13 that LG display was the only supplier of OLED TV panels in 2021, with 82% of its shipments going to LG Electronics and Sony.
