CTOnews.com, August 30 (Xinhua)-- Apple launched a new generation of iPhone SE 3 in March, its most affordable phone. The iPhone SE 3 in 2022 has the same design as iPhone 8, but it looks like the next generation is about to change. According to YouTuber Jon Prosser, the next generation of iPhone SE (temporarily known as iPhone SE 4) will have the same size as iPhone XR.

Jon Prosser said that the next generation of iPhone SE will be based on "iPhone XR". This means that Apple will abandon the old dimensions of the iPhone 8-with huge borders and Home physical buttons-in favor of a more modern design, with fewer borders, bangs and Face ID.

The next generation of iPhone SE 4 phones are expected to be equipped with Face ID's 6.1in display, 12MP rear camera and IP67 waterproof and dustproof performance.

CTOnews.com has learned that the current iPhone SE 3 has a 4.7-inch LCD display, while the iPhone XR (Apple has discontinued) has a larger 6.1in LCD display. Compared with the 2022 iPhone SE 3, iPhone XR also has some other advantages, such as larger batteries.

In terms of chips, current iPhone SE 3 models use the same A15 Bionic chip as iPhone 13. However, there are rumors that the iPhone 14 standard version will also continue to use the A15 chip, so the next generation of iPhone SE 4 phones may also be the same.

On the camera side, the 2022 iPhone SE 3 and iPhone XR both have very similar sensors, with a rear 1200 megapixel f / 1.8aperture camera and a front 7m pixel f / 2.2aperture camera. Of course, Apple may improve the next generation of iPhone SE camera sensors, or at least add new software features, such as night mode (currently not available on entry-level iPhone).

IPhone SE is getting bigger and bigger when the first iPhone SE was released in 2016, Apple argued that it was designed for users who like small phones. After all, the 2016 iPhone SE was built on iPhone 5s. Even now, with the exception of the iPhone mini, the current iPhone SE 3 is much smaller than other iPhone models.

At the same time, demand for the 2022 iPhone SE 3 has been low, indicating that people are no longer interested in buying the iPhone designed nearly a decade ago. Smaller screens also bring smaller batteries, which is one of the constant complaints from iPhone SE users.

It is not clear when Apple plans to launch the new iPhone SE 4. IPhone SE 2 and iPhone SE 3 were launched two years apart. It may be a long time before we see the release of iPhone SE 4.
