August 30 news, according to foreign media reports, Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries and India's second richest man, said that he plans to invest 25 billion US dollars (about 172.75 billion yuan) to launch 5G services in India, first in several major cities in India, and to cover the whole country by December 2023.

Ambani pointed out that Reliance Jio (Reliance subsidiary) 5G will become the world's largest and most advanced 5G network. Unlike other operators, his company will deploy 5G "stand-alone" networks without relying on existing 4G infrastructure, which means it can take full advantage of 5G's potential to achieve low-latency, high-capacity services.

In addition, Reliance Jio's announcement today includes a new service called Jio AirFiber, a gigabit home broadband solution that supports a large number of practical applications, including interactive sports and entertainment, metaspace and virtual cloud computing. The company will also become the first telecom company in India to provide cloud services.

Last month, the Indian government held a 5G spectrum auction, and Reliance Jio became the largest buyer in the 5G spectrum auction, bidding as high as $11 billion (about 76.01 billion yuan).

Jio is also working with Google to develop a cheap 5G smartphone.
