CTOnews.com, August 30 (Xinhua)-- Lenovo Group today released the ESG (Environment, Society and Corporate Governance) report for fiscal year 2021. According to the report, Lenovo is committed to achieving a 50% reduction in operational direct and indirect carbon emissions and a 25% reduction in carbon intensity in some value chains by 2030, and to achieve net zero emissions by the end of 2050. This goal continued to make positive progress in fiscal year 2021, with the company's direct operating carbon emissions reduced by 15%.

In terms of green manufacturing, Lenovo Group has achieved a national green factory in its production bases in Hefei, Wuhan, Chengdu and Huiyang, and on this basis continues to promote the transformation to a "zero-carbon factory". In the current fiscal year, Lenovo sold 14.2 million laptops made with a new low-temperature solder paste process, successfully reducing 10,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions since 2017; in terms of renewable energy use, Lenovo's global projects have a total solar installed capacity of 17 megawatts. In terms of reducing plastics, reducing carbon and promoting the development of circular economy, Lenovo Group has reduced the use of 497 metric tons of packaging materials in fiscal year 2021 alone through independently innovative packaging technologies such as degradable bamboo and sugarcane fiber, as well as self-locking. In addition, Lenovo Group has also increased the number of closed-loop recycled plastic application products from 103 to 248, and introduced sea plastics into five products and packaging to help marine ecological protection.

CTOnews.com learned that the report also disclosed a number of employee data, showing that Lenovo currently accounts for 37 per cent of women and 85 per cent of employees over the age of 30. Lenovo has previously announced that the proportion of female executives worldwide will rise to 27% in fiscal year 2025.
