UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) refers to a unified extensible firmware interface, which is used to define the software interface between the PC operating system and system firmware, responsible for power-on self-test (POST), contact the operating system and provide an interface between the operating system and hardware, which you should have seen when installing the system.

ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Management Interface) refers to the advanced configuration and power management interface, which can help the operating system to reasonably control and distribute the power of computer hardware devices.

CTOnews.com learned that the highlights of the UEFI 2.10 specification are as follows:

Introduction of UEFI consistency profile to allow support for more types of platforms and implementation code bases

Encryption agility, including SHA-384 / SHA-512 signature scheme, support for Authenticated Variables

Added support for Godson LoongArch and RISC-V processor architectures

Add secret computing extension

The highlights of the ACPI 6.5 specification are as follows:

Support for CXL memory

Support Godson LoongArch processor architecture

Support for confidential computing event logs

Support for USB-C USB4

"We are pleased to share the new consistency profile feature in response to requests from the community," said Mark Doran, chairman of the UEFI Forum. "the consistency profile feature extends the types of platforms that UEFI can support to a wider range of platform types, such as the Internet of things, embedded devices and car space, rather than simple general-purpose computers."

At present, Godson LoongArch architecture has been supported by Linux, GO language and GCC compiler. In addition, the SMBIOS specification has supported the Godson LoongArch architecture, and since then the basic hardware information developed based on the dragon architecture platform will be standardized and uniformly displayed, and the dragon architecture has become another independent CPU instruction system architecture supported by SMBIOS after x86, ARM, and RISC-V.
