CTOnews.com learned that on Wechat Night on the Pro version of the 2021 Wechat Open course, Zhang Xiaolong, senior vice president of Tencent and president of Weixin Group, revealed that Wechat will soon have its own input method. Zhang Xiaolong said that Wechat originally did not want to work as an input method, but received many users' complaints that their chat records were stolen because what they typed would see the corresponding ads. He explained that Wechat does not keep chat records, and Wechat also stipulates that those who read users' chat records will be fired. Therefore, in order to protect the privacy of users, Wechat has to make its own input method.

At the end of last year, some netizens revealed that Wechat had launched its own input method function and said it had obtained the qualification for internal testing. From the "my → Settings → plug-in" view, if there is a Wechat keyboard, it proves that you are qualified, directly open it and you can use it. However, more than half a year later, the Wechat input method is still not officially launched.
