CTOnews.com, August 29 (Xinhua)-- Swedish telecom giant Ericsson said today that it will begin to close its business in Russia under the leadership of Dell and many other companies, a move that will fulfill its "obligations to customers."

CTOnews.com learned that Ericsson currently offers 5G and Internet of things technology worldwide and that its Russian branch currently has a team of about 400 employees who will receive financial support from the company.

In addition, it is reported that some employees will be transferred to the new company set up by some existing senior managers, but the details have yet to be confirmed, including the number of people, what form the company will take, what products to offer, and so on.

Ericsson has become the latest in a long list of European and North American companies to withdraw from the Russian market because of the Russia-Ukraine war. The list now includes most of the major technology, financial and telecommunications companies. The Russian government is still trying to quickly build alternatives, such as the social network VK, which launched an alternative to Google Play Store in May.
