CTOnews.com, August 29, South Korean car companies have made new breakthroughs with the advent of the new energy era. South Korea's exports of new energy vehicles reached a new milestone in July, reaching 54164 new energy vehicles, exceeding 50,000 for the first time, an increase of nearly 60 per cent over the same period last year. This is also the first time that South Korea has exported more than 50,000 new energy vehicles a month.

The Korean Automobile Industry Association today released the latest statistics: from January to July this year, the country's automakers exported 305909 new energy vehicles, an increase of 41.1 percent over the same period last year.

CTOnews.com has reported that Chinese car exports also hit an all-time high in July, rising 67 per cent year-on-year to 290000 vehicles. With the sharp increase in car exports this year, China is expected to overtake South Korea to become the world's fourth largest car exporter.

In addition, according to data released by South Korea's Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology, South Korea's ICT products exported 19.34 billion US dollars in July, down from 19.48 billion US dollars in the same period last year.

South Korean semiconductor products exported US $11.4 billion in July, up 3.1% from the same period last year, accounting for 58.8% of ICT exports; panel exports were US $2 billion, down 4.7% from the same period last year; smartphone exports were US $680 million, down 29.2% from the same period last year; and exports of computer-related products were US $1.2 billion, down 21.9% from the same period last year.
