CTOnews.com, August 29, the current whistleblower released a set of live photos of the meeting between MSI and AMD, including a PPT demonstration of AMD's new generation of AM5 chipsets, including the B650E chipset, which has never appeared before.

As previously revealed, the AMD B650E chipset is different from the X670E chipset, but they both focus on "Extreme" and can support dual PCIe Gen5 protocols for graphics cards and storage. For non-E series, the X670 and B650 will support only one of the video cards or storage (PCIe slot or M.2 slot, to be exact).

Unlike the X670 series, the B650E will be equipped with a Promontory 21 chipset, which will reduce the number of PCIe channels.

Although it has been reported that AMD is developing another B650 chipset, so far, Extreme models have only appeared in leaks. This new PPT finally confirms that AMD does bring at least four different chipsets to its AM5 platform.

Later today, AMD will release new details about its Ryzen 7000 series and possibly on the AM5 platform itself, but the B650 motherboard is not expected to launch next month, but later than the other three series.

CTOnews.com learned that the new socket of the new AMD Socket AM5 platform uses a 1718-pin LGA design and supports up to 170W TDP processors, dual-channel DDR5 memory, and the new SVI3 power infrastructure. AMD Socket AM5 also has PCIe 5.0channels, up to 24.

According to the official website of AMD, AM5 motherboards are divided into three series:

X670 Extreme: provides PCIe5.0 support for two video card slots and one memory slot for strong connection performance and higher overclocking performance

X670: provides PCIe5.0 support for one memory slot and one video card slot (PCIe5.0 is optional for video card slots), specially designed for enthusiasts to overclock

B650: has a memory slot that supports PCIe 5.0and is designed for high performance users.
