Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, August 29 (CTOnews.com)-NASA originally planned to launch the Artemis-1 mission at 8:33 EDT (20:33 Beijing time on August 29) to test-launch the Space launch system (SLS) carrier rocket to begin the first step back to the moon. However, according to the Associated Press, the countdown to the launch of the Space launch system was interrupted by a fuel leak.
According to reports, the location of the fuel leak was the same as that of the previous spring rehearsal, and launch controllers stopped the fuel supply operation, which was already an hour late due to thunderstorms at sea. NASA said the leak was at an acceptable level and had returned to rapid filling operations. There is no word on whether this will cause the launch to be postponed again, and if so, the next attempt will not be made until September 2, local time at the earliest.
The 98-meter rocket is the most powerful rocket in NASA's history, surpassing even Saturn V, which carried astronauts to the moon half a century ago. If the test flight is successful, it will send a crew module into lunar orbit for the first time in 50 years.
CTOnews.com learned that it was the first flight of NASA's 21st-century lunar exploration program, named Artemis, after the Apollo mythological twin sister, years overdue. Repeated delays have led to billions of budget overruns.
Assuming the test goes well, the second flight will take astronauts around the moon and return as soon as 2024. By the end of 2025, astronauts will be able to land on the moon. NASA's goal is to land at the South Pole of the moon. During the Apollo program, from 1969 to 1972, 12 astronauts landed on the moon for no more than a few days. NASA hopes to build a lunar base through the Artemis mission, where astronauts take turns to enter and leave each time for several weeks. The next target will be Mars, probably in the late 2030s or early 1940s.
