Yesterday, France had a new policy to boost the development of electric vehicles.

France is preparing to implement a subsidy scheme for the rental of electric cars in an effort to deliver on a campaign promise made by French President Jean-Claude Macron, Bloomberg reported. "Electric cars are still very expensive for many French people," French Budget Minister Gabriel Attar said on August 28. In response, France will launch an electric car rental subsidy program. The French government is currently studying how to implement the measure as soon as possible and provide enough electric vehicles for users to rent.

Attar said the subsidy would keep the monthly rent for electric cars as low as 100 euros, which is lower than what many traditional fuel vehicle users spend on gasoline.

At present, the French government provides a subsidy of up to 6000 euros (about 41100 yuan) for electric vehicles priced less than 47000 euros (about 322000 yuan). Attar said the subsidy policy was supposed to end on July 1 this year, but the government decided to extend it until the end of 2022.

CTOnews.com learned that L'Aver-France data showed that the number of electric vehicles registered in France in July was 20937, up 9.4 per cent from a year earlier. Of these, 20085 are passenger electric vehicles, accounting for 18.7% of the market share.
