According to Zheng Huiqiong, a researcher at the Center of Molecular Plant Excellence, it is hoped that through this study, the whole life cycle culture experiment of rice from "seed to seed" under the condition of space microgravity will be completed for the first time in the world, and the key environmental parameters of rice culture will be obtained, which will provide important theoretical guidance for further analyzing the effect of space microgravity on rice growth and development and molecular basis, and using rice for space grain production. At the same time, transcriptome analysis was used to compare the expression and regulatory network changes of key genes in flowering pathway between Arabidopsis thaliana and rice in space environment, and to analyze the molecular mechanism of space microgravity on long-day and short-day plant flowering. to provide a theoretical basis for the further creation of crops adapted to the space environment and the development and utilization of space microgravity resources.

CTOnews.com learned that the long March 5B Yao-3 carrier rocket carrying the experimental module on July 24, 2022, 14:22 Beijing time, was ignited and launched on time at the Wenchang space launch site in China. About 495 seconds later, the module was successfully separated from the rocket and entered the scheduled orbit, and the launch was a complete success.

After the experimental module was put into orbit, the status setting was successfully completed. At 03:13 on July 25, it was successfully docked at the front port of the sky and the core module. The whole rendezvous and docking process lasted about 13 hours. This is the first rendezvous and docking of two 20-ton spacecraft in orbit and the first rendezvous and docking of astronauts in the space station during their stay in orbit.
