CTOnews.com August 28, RISC-V software and hardware manufacturer Sai Fang Technology recently released two new products: Fang Hong 7110 (JH7110), the world's first mass-produced high-performance RISC-V multimedia processor, and Fang Xingguang 2 (VisionFive 2), the world's highest-performance RISC-V single board computer.

Officially, as a high-performance, low-power, multi-functional RISC-V-based application processor chip, JH7110 uses mature TSMC 28nm process, with 64-bit high-performance quad-core RISC-V CPU and a 1.5GHz 2MB second-level cache. JH7110 integrates 3DGPU, H.264 / H.265 video codec IP and ISP IP. It is a powerful multimedia processing platform.

According to the actual measurement of Saifang Technology, the stable working frequency of JH7110 CPU reaches 1.5GHz and the running score of Coremark reaches 5.09. it is the best product of RISC-V mass production chip in the market at present. In addition, JH7110 provides more powerful GPU processing ability. Under the GPU working frequency of 400MHz, the industry standard GPU benchmark-GLmark2 test is used. Compared with the main control chip widely used in the field of single board computer, the measured data of JH7110 is more than 4 times.

Sai Fang Technology said that in terms of power consumption, JH7110 is divided into eight power domains that can be independently switched, and the CPU frequency can be adjusted by software, and customers can set the most effective chip working scene completely according to application scenarios and performance requirements to achieve PPA balance. In the dormant state, the JH7110 power consumption is 120mW; in the single board computer application scenario, the JH7110 works at full load and the dynamic power consumption is 4100mW; in the soft routing and NAS application scenarios, the user does not need GPU and video coding, but needs dual network ports to work, and the user can control the module switch through the software, and the actual power consumption will be reduced to 3300mW.

According to the official introduction of Sai Fang Technology, JH7110 has a strong multimedia support capability. JH7110 integrates the low-power ISP developed by Sai Fang Technology, providing strong H.264 / H.265 codec capability, supporting two-way 1080P@30fps encoding, one-way 4K@60fps or four-way 1080P@30fps decoding; supporting JPEG codec; display output can support two-way 4K dual screen display, six kinds of layer overlay display; integrated GPU rendering capability can reach 2400MPixels / s. Through faster response speed and smoother image processing, JH7110 can bring a good game experience to gamers. In addition, ordinary users can also get a smooth experience in common desktop environments, such as Debian and OpenHarmony.

Based on JH7110, Saifang Technology released the world's first mass-produced RISC-V single board computer with high performance, low cost and integrated 3D GPU-VisionFive 2.

Sai Fang Technology said that VisionFive 2 is equipped with JH7110 multimedia processor and has strong computing power and graphics processing power; it is equipped with complete audio and video interfaces: DVP, MIPI, HDMI, audio stereo interface; two network interfaces; 40-pin full-function GPIO, which is compatible with general peripheral modules of various mainstream development boards; and provides extended interfaces for PCIE, USB, and SDIO peripherals.

According to Sai Fang Technology, at present, the official release versions of Linux, such as Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Debian, ArchLinux, AltLinux, Gentoo, Lubuntu and other operating systems have been transplanted on the VisionFive development board, while OpenHarmony, Deepin, Youkilin and other operating systems are being transplanted. In addition, the VisionFive series of development boards have fully supported advanced languages such as Python,JAVA, and the Ark compiler that supports Javascript programming will soon be available under the OpenHarmony operating system.

CTOnews.com learned that VisionFive 2 covers three versions of 2GB, 4GB and 8GB, with corresponding prices of $55, $65 and $85, respectively. In addition, Sai Fang Technology will also launch a two-month crowdfunding campaign, with up to 25% discount for users.
