Faced with this situation, Tesla launched a cheap new version of Model Y in Europe. According to electrek, Tesla today launched a rear-wheel drive version of Model Y in many European countries, with a WLTP mileage of 455km. As a reference, Tesla's long-range Model Y in Europe has a range of 533km.

In terms of power, the rear wheel drive version of Model Y has a top speed of 217km / h and an acceleration time of 6.9s from 0km / h to 100km / h. According to the official website, the car is expected to be delivered from December 2022 to February 2023.

In terms of price, the rear-wheel drive version of Model Y starts at 50, 000 euros (about 343000 yuan) in the Netherlands, which is 16000 euros (about 109800 yuan) cheaper than the long-lasting version, and there is a VAT of about 8850 euros (about 60711 yuan) of the 50, 000 euros. The current exchange rate of the euro is similar to that of the dollar, which means that if the car were sold in the United States, it would be about $20, 000 cheaper than the cheapest Model Y in the United States. In some European markets, the rear-wheel drive version of Model Y is even cheaper than the standard Model 3.

In March this year, Tesla's Berlin factory began to deliver Model Y to customers. For this updated rear-wheel drive version of Model Y, Tesla did not say whether it was made locally in Berlin or imported from the Shanghai factory, but it is likely to be the latter.

CTOnews.com learned that in mid-August, Tesla's Chinese official website showed that the delivery time of the Model Y rear wheel drive version had been shortened to 4-8 weeks, compared with 8-12 weeks before, which may be related to the transformation of the production line of Tesla's Shanghai factory in July.
