CTOnews.com8 March 27 news, yesterday, TCL Technology Group Co., Ltd. released its semi-annual report for 2022, which showed that TCL Technology's operating income in the first half of this year was 84.52 billion yuan, up 13.6 percent from the same period last year; net profit was 1.93 billion yuan, down 79.3 percent from the same period last year; and net profit for shareholders of listed companies was 660 million yuan, down 90.2 percent from the same period last year.

The report shows that the main reasons for the profit decline of TCL Technology in the first half of this year are: showing the overall downturn in terminal demand, geographical conflicts leading to a sharp drop in important regional markets and customer orders, the prices of major products are significantly lower than the same period last year, and the company's semiconductor display business net profit decreased by 8.9 billion yuan compared with the same period last year.

In the first half of this year, TCL invested 5.25 billion yuan in science and technology research and development, an increase of 3.65 percent over the same period last year, with 475 new PCT international applications and a total of 14526 applications, the report said. At the same time, TCL Technologies has applied for 2033 patents for quantum dot electroluminescent technology and materials, ranking second in the world.

The report points out that TCL Technology will continue to focus on the pan-semiconductor strategy of semiconductor display, new energy photovoltaic and semiconductor materials. Among them, in the semiconductor display business, TCL Huaxing's flexible OLED folding, off-screen camera, LTPO, narrow frame and other new technologies and products have been successfully developed, with more brand customers.

CTOnews.com previously reported that TCL Central, which is in charge of new energy photovoltaic and semiconductor materials business, achieved operating income of 31.698 billion yuan in the first half of this year, up 79.65 percent from the same period last year; net profit was 3.225 billion yuan, up 68.39 percent from the same period last year; and net profit belonging to shareholders of listed companies was 2.917 billion yuan, up 92.10 percent over the same period last year.

Specifically, the photovoltaic silicon wafer business achieved an operating income of 24.667 billion yuan, an increase of 74.14% over the same period last year; the photovoltaic battery module business achieved an operating income of 4.763 billion yuan, an increase of 116.41% over the same period last year; and the semiconductor materials business achieved an operating income of 1.538 billion yuan, an increase of 79.90% over the same period last year.
