Mercedes-Benz (Mercedes-Benz) is expanding its pure electric vehicle product line to catch up with Tesla, the US leader in electric vehicles, CTOnews.com8 reported on March 26. Among them, Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV positioning flagship pure electric SUV is the third high-end electric vehicle based on Mercedes-Benz EVA2 architecture after EQS and EQE.

Today, Mercedes-Benz officially announced that it has started producing EQS SUV at its Tuscaloosa plant in Alabama. Mercedes-Benz said the successful launch of EQS SUV in the United States is an important milestone in the electrification of Mercedes-Benz and a key step for Mercedes-Benz to produce eight pure electric vehicles in seven plants around the world in the future.

According to reports, Mercedes-Benz built a new battery factory in Bieber County, Kentucky in March this year. In the battery factory, there is a production line with more than 70 worktables and a contract of 300m long to produce Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV battery system, including 12 battery modules and EE battery separator (EE compartment).

Mercedes-Benz has met two key requirements of the latest US subsidy policy by building EQS SUV electric cars and their batteries in the US, electrek reported today. But if the car is to be subsidized, it needs to start at less than $80,000 (about 548000 yuan). As a reference, the recommended retail price of the Mercedes-Benz EQS is as low as $102310 (about 700800 yuan).

CTOnews.com learned that Mercedes-Benz launched a seven-seat EQS SUV model this month, starting at $130000 (about 886600 yuan), and will go on sale later this year.

In terms of power, the seven-seat EQS SUV all-wheel drive version provides 536hp, the single-motor rear-wheel version has a range of up to 410mph (about 659.83 km), is equipped with 107.8kWh batteries and supports fast charging (200kW), which can be recharged from 10 to 80 per cent in 30 minutes.
