CTOnews.com, August 25, after it was revealed that 22H2, an updated version of Microsoft Windows 11, will be widely available sometime in September or October. The Microsoft blog revealed in May that Insider build 22621 was chosen as the RTM candidate for Windows 11 22H2 (Sun Valley 2).

Today, a new report from the German media Deskmodder says that the latest version 22621.382 (KB5016632) will become the universally available version of Windows 11 22H2 (GA).

CTOnews.com learned that recently, the micro "starter" application also inadvertently revealed the name of the 22H2 feature update, which is simply called "Windows 11 2022 update". However, after realizing that the name was leaked, Microsoft quickly deleted it.

Users running the original version of Windows 11 21H2 will be able to upgrade seamlessly to Windows 11 22H2 because the system requirements have not changed. In terms of functionality, Windows 11 22H2 will restore the much anticipated "drag and drop" support for the taskbar. It will also come with a redesigned task manager that will use WinUI and Fluent Design, including Mica and Acrylic materials.

This feature update also includes improvements to the start menu, a faster context menu, desktop Windows Spotlight, and tag support in File Explorer (expected to be released after 22H2).

Microsoft hinted that the official release name of Win11 22H2 will be "Windows 11 2022 Update".
