According to reports, the above 800V high voltage battery is a 4680 battery and is planned to be installed in the model of the third generation platform (NT3).

According to sources, Weilai will also put into small-scale production of lithium ferromanganese phosphate batteries to supply Weilai sub-brand Alps. The brand is located in the market range of 200000-300000 and is expected to be listed in 2024.

CTOnews.com learned that 4680 battery, that is, 46 mm in diameter, 80 mm high cylindrical battery, the full name is 4680 specification electrodeless ear (all-polar ear) cylindrical battery, currently mainly Tesla application, has been mass production in the Texas factory, and successfully installed in some Model Y models, the future period of time is also one of the major manufacturers' development direction.

Compared with the previous 2170 battery, the Tesla 4680 battery has five times the cell capacity of the 2170 battery, a six-fold increase in charging power, a 14 per cent reduction in cost per kilowatt-hour, a 16 per cent increase in driving range, a six-fold increase in electricity compared to a polar ear battery, a six-fold increase in power output, and a total cost savings of about 86 per cent for 4680 batteries, while a 69 per cent reduction per kWh, Musk said.

In addition, the 4680 is used with the CTC scheme, that is, the battery is directly integrated into the chassis to improve the energy density of the battery system, vehicle weight loss, improve production efficiency, and have more room for optimization on the ride.

At present, the disadvantage of 4680 battery is that it is impossible to determine whether it will be more difficult to dissipate heat inside the battery, expand the battery core, shorten the battery life and so on.
