Yong Hai, general manager of Huawei Taiwan Vladivostok Technology, said that the notebook industry is still clearing inventory in the third quarter and is expected to improve slowly in the fourth quarter.

Yong Hai pointed out that Huawei's sales of laptops in Taiwan increased by 133% a year in the first half of this year, and the unit price of medium-and high-end models increased by 62% a year. Last year, laptops accounted for more than half of Huawei's performance in Taiwan, with tablet computers accounting for about 20%. The rest are wearable devices and other products.

In response to the inventory pressure faced by the laptop market, Yong Hai responded that the COVID-19 epidemic has increased a lot of consumer demand, and people need to buy laptops in order to study at home and work remotely; but after a large number of purchases, demand is bound to slow down, and now the industry is clearing inventory, and it should slowly improve by the fourth quarter.

Yong Hai also said that Huawei has higher-end products that have not been introduced into Taiwan, and will continue to improve its brand value positioning and launch higher-end products in the future, instead of fighting a price war and pushing a large number of low-end products in pursuit of market share.

Yong Hai believes that the cycle of the pen switch is about 2 to 3 years, which means that the entire industry will face great pressure in at least one or two years in the future. Huawei can use this time to strengthen medium-and high-level brand positioning and enhance the competitiveness of business products. When consumers want to change their phones, they will naturally consider Huawei products and be optimistic about the growth of Huawei laptops in the future.

In response to inflation, Yong Hai pointed out that the follow-up Huawei Pen Power will gradually increase product prices and positioning, the current prices have reflected the rising cost of raw materials, it is impossible to do business at a loss.

Huawei has raised the prices of some laptops in the first half of the year, according to Ji Weibo. Among them, Huawei MateBook13 / 14 2021 and 2020, MateBook D 14 / 15.6 2021 Intel prices have been raised by 300 yuan to 2021 yuan, especially Huawei MateBook with independent graphics card MX450 generally has a higher price increase, of which the biggest increase is MateBook 14 2021 i5/16GB / 512GB / MX450, the original price is 6399 yuan, now the price is 6999 yuan.
