CTOnews.com, Aug. 23, according to Yonhap news agency Yonhap, citing the latest data released by market research agency Omdia on the 23rd, global TV sales reached 92.604 million units in the first half of this year, with sales of $47.5 billion (about 325.375 billion yuan), down 6.6% and 12.5% respectively from a year earlier.

In terms of specific manufacturer rankings, Samsung Electronics ranks first in the world in terms of market share in terms of sales, with sales rising 0.5 percentage points year-on-year to 31.5%, followed by LG Electronics (17.4%), TCL (8.7%), Hisense (8.2%) and Sony (7.4%). Samsung TV accounted for 30% of the share in the second quarter alone, up 0.8 percentage points from a year earlier.

In terms of sales, Samsung topped the list with 21%, followed by LG (12.3%), TCL (11.1%), Hisense (9.5%) and Xiaomi (6.4%).

CTOnews.com learned that in the field of high-end televisions, that is, televisions priced above $2500 (about 17125 yuan), Samsung accounts for 53.6% of the global market, followed by LG with 21.5% and Sonny with 17.2%.

It is worth mentioning that Samsung's Neo QLED TVs (one of its best high-end products) have sold more than 36.5 million units since 2017, breaking the 30 million mark in the first half of 2022. Meanwhile, LG maintained its solid number one position in OLED TVs, selling 1.69 million units in the first half, accounting for about 62 per cent of global OLED shipments. In the first half of the year, OLED TVs accounted for 33.2% of all LG TV sales.
