CTOnews.com, August 23, according to Guangming Daily, recently, the National language work Committee's key project, the Modern Chinese Standardization Dictionary, has completed a new round of revision and launched the fourth edition.

It is understood that the newly revised Modern Chinese Standard Dictionary contains more than 12000 words, more than 72000 items, and more than 80000 examples, which basically reflects the face of modern Chinese vocabulary. Nearly a thousand new words have been added to the revision, including "sharing economy", "new normal", "carbon peak", "carbon neutralization", "Internet +" and "mobile payment". Such as "Internet celebrities", "group chat", "group leaders", "brain supplement" and so on.

With the development of society, some words may have new meanings, or their usage may have changed. For these new meanings and usages, additions have also been made this time. For example, the word "second" adds the meaning of "borrowing for a very short time (often used as an adverbial)", and the word "brush" adds the meaning of "inputting, outputting and identifying some information with actions similar to 'brush'."

In order to be close to Chinese teaching, this revision specially adds hints on the pronunciation and usage of some classical Chinese words in the compiled Chinese textbooks. For example, the "room" in "A Fang Palace" is explained with a hint: "read p á n reading" in the "A Fang Palace". Considering some actual conditions of language life, a hint is also added after the word "six": "when the word 'six' is used in place names such as' Liu'an'(in Anhui) and 'Liuhe' (in Jiangsu), the local people read" l "and so on.

CTOnews.com learned that the compilation project of the Modern Chinese Standardization Dictionary was officially launched in 1992. It is a dictionary aimed at fully implementing the relevant national standards, initiated and compiled by famous linguist Lu Shuxiang, Li Xingjian as chief editor, Lu Shuxiang, Li Rong, Xu Jialu, Zhou Youguang, Cao Xianmao, Liu Bin, Hu Mingyang, and other scholars as consultants. In February 2004, it took more than ten years to compile and was jointly published by Foreign language Teaching and Research Press and language Publishing House. So far, three revisions have been completed, and this fourth edition has been completed by more than 20 experts in eight years.
