CTOnews.com, August 23 (Xinhua)-- Apple's next-generation MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models will enter mass production in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to analyst Guo Mingyi.

Guo said in a tweet that as TSMC's guidance indicates that revenue from 3nm chip production will not begin until 2023, the new MacBook Pro models 14-inch and 16-inch may still use chips based on TSMC's latest 5nm process.

Guo's information appears to conflict with reports from Taiwan media that the M2 Pro chip may be Apple's first 3nm chip. TSMC plans to start mass production of 3nm chips for upcoming MacBook models and other products later this year, Digitimes reported.

TSMC's plan to start producing 3nm chips for Apple in the near future should be reliable, but it depends on which new Mac products are used first. Apple is developing MacBook Pro, Mac mini and Mac Pro models based on M2 chips, Bloomberg Mark Gurman said.

CTOnews.com was informed that the current MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models were released in October 2021 with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips based on 5nm.

"it is reported that Apple's M2 Pro chip will be launched using TSMC 3nm process, and iPhone 15 Pro A17 will also be introduced."
