CTOnews.com, August 22 (Xinhua)-- in April, Apple announced the launch of a self-service service, which allows customers to obtain maintenance manuals and original parts and tools through the Apple self-repair store, enabling experienced customers to complete repairs for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series and iPhone SE (Generation 3).

Today, Apple announced that it will provide self-service service for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops equipped with M1 chips tomorrow.

Apple said that from tomorrow, the self-service maintenance program will be extended to MacBook Air and MacBook Pro equipped with M1 series chips, providing customers with maintenance manuals and original Apple parts and tools through the Apple self-maintenance store. The iPhone self-service maintenance program was launched earlier this year. The program will be extended to more Mac models later this year and will be launched in other countries starting in Europe.

CTOnews.com learned that the self-service maintenance programs of MacBook Air and MacBook Pro provide more than a dozen different maintenance types for each model, including display screens, upper shells including batteries, trackpads, etc., and more will be introduced in the future. Customers with experience in the maintenance of complex electronic equipment will have access to the same parts and tools as Apple Store retail stores and Apple authorized service providers to complete the maintenance of the above Mac laptops on their own.

Before starting self-service maintenance, the customer must first visit support.apple.com/ self-service-repair to consult the maintenance manual of the product to be repaired. Then they can go to the Apple self-service store and order the parts and tools they need.

All Apple original parts are designed and manufactured for specific products and are rigorously tested to ensure the highest levels of quality, safety and reliability. Customers can return the replaced parts to Apple for renovation and recycling. In many cases, customers who do so can enjoy discounts when buying Apple products in the future.
