Fujitsu of Japan plans to launch quantum computer products in fiscal year 2023 in partnership with RIKEN, and Fujitsu will become the first Japanese company to launch quantum computer products, according to the Nikkei News.

Fujitsu began its cooperation with Riken in April last year, with about 20 researchers involved in the project, and the company expects the product to be launched in fiscal year 2023 (from April this year), the report said. first of all, it will be used in the company's internal financial forecasts and in the research and development of new materials and drugs.

Fujitsu has conducted joint research on material design with Fuji Film, a photoresist manufacturer, to explore the application of quantum computing, and plans to further introduce partners.

The report revealed that Fujitsu quantum computer will adopt a more mature low-temperature superconducting circuit technology, which has been successfully realized on Google and IBM products.

For the large-scale commercial use of quantum computing, Google takes 2029 as the mileage node and regards drug and material research and development as an important application scenario. Boston Consulting Group estimates that by 2040, quantum computing can generate $850 billion in economic benefits in these applications every year.

Japanese companies will have a chance to have a place in the quantum computer competition if they can take advantage of their advantages in technologies such as superconductivity, according to Nikkei Shimbun.

The report also shows that the prototype under development by Fujitsu will be able to operate 64 qubits, and the company hopes to produce devices with 1000 qubits by 2027.
