CTOnews.com, August 22 (Xinhua)-- Market analyst Canalys released its latest research report today, saying that due to the decline in market demand, shipments of North American smartphones in the second quarter of 2022 were 35.4 million units, down 6.4% from a year earlier.

According to reports, in the North American market, the top five mobile phone shipments in the second quarter were Apple, Samsung, Motorola, TCL and Google. Of these, Apple accounts for 52 per cent, leading Samsung (25 per cent), Motorola (9 per cent), TCL (5 per cent) and Google (2 per cent).

Canalys research analyst Runar Bj ø rhovde pointed out that North America faces triple resistance to high inflation, declining consumer confidence and economic slowdown, so demand in its market has also shrunk.

CTOnews.com reported that Canalys released second-quarter shipments of China's smartphone market, which showed weakness in the Chinese mainland market in the second quarter of 2022, with shipments of only 67.4 million units, down 10 per cent from a year earlier.
