From January to July, telecom business revenue totaled 944.2 billion yuan, an increase of 8.3% over the same period last year and the same growth rate as in the first half of the year. The total volume of telecommunications services calculated at the same price last year increased by 22.2% over the same period last year.

Among them, mobile Internet traffic is growing rapidly. From January to July, cumulative mobile Internet traffic reached 146.3 billion GB, an increase of 19.1% over the same period last year.

CTOnews.com learned that by the end of July, the number of mobile Internet users had reached 1.455 billion, a net increase of 39.55 million over the end of last year. In July, the average mobile Internet access traffic (DOU) per household reached 15.27GB / household month, an increase of 8.5% over the same period last year, which was higher than 0.55GB / household month at the end of last year.

As for mobile phone users, by the end of July, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises reached 1.672 billion, a net increase of 29.41 million over the end of last year. Of these, 5G mobile phone users reached 475 million, a net increase of 120 million over the end of last year, accounting for 28.4 percent of mobile phone users and an increase of 6.8 percent over the end of last year.

The following is the economic performance of the communications industry released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology from January to July 2022:

From January to July, the communications industry maintained a good momentum of operation. The revenue of telecommunications business has increased steadily, and the total volume of telecommunications business has maintained rapid growth; the construction and application of new infrastructure such as 5G, gigabit optical network and Internet of things have been promoted rapidly, and network capacity and perception capacity have been continuously enhanced; emerging businesses such as cloud computing have played a significant role, and new drivers of industry development have continued to release.

I. overall operation revenue from telecommunications services has maintained steady growth, and the total volume of telecommunications services has maintained double-digit growth. From January to July, telecom business revenue totaled 944.2 billion yuan, an increase of 8.3% over the same period last year and the same growth rate as in the first half of the year. Revenue from fixed Internet broadband services grew steadily. From January to July, the revenue from Internet broadband services completed by the three basic telecommunications enterprises was 142.1 billion yuan, an increase of 9.3 percent over the same period last year, accounting for 15.1 percent of the telecom business revenue, an increase of 0.1 percent over the first half of the year, and an increase of 1.4 percent over the first half of the year.

The revenue of mobile data traffic business is growing at a low speed. From January to July, the three basic telecom companies completed 386.5 billion yuan in mobile data traffic business revenue, an increase of 0.5% over the same period last year, accounting for 40.9% of telecom business revenue, driving an increase of 0.2% in telecom business revenue.

Revenue from emerging businesses continues to grow rapidly. The three basic telecommunications companies actively developed emerging businesses such as IPTV, Internet data center, big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of things. From January to July, they completed a total of 184.3 billion yuan in emerging business revenue, an increase of 35.1% over the same period last year, accounting for 19.5% of the telecom business revenue, driving the growth of telecom business revenue by 5.5%. Among them, the revenue of cloud computing and big data grew by 131.7% and 60.3% respectively, the data center business revenue increased by 16.5%, and the Internet of things business revenue increased by 25.9%.

The decline in voice business revenue narrowed slightly. From January to July, the income of the three basic telecommunications enterprises from completing fixed voice and mobile voice services totaled 12.18 billion yuan and 67.3 billion yuan, down 10.1% and 3.8% respectively from the same period last year, narrowing by 0.7% and 0.6% respectively compared with the first half of the year, accounting for 8.4% of the total telecom business revenue, accounting for 1.2 percentage points lower than in the same period last year.

Second, the development of telecommunications users the scale of fixed broadband access users has increased steadily, and the number of gigabit users has continued to expand. By the end of July, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises had reached 566 million, a net increase of 30.7 million over the end of last year. Among them, the number of fixed Internet broadband access users with 100Mbps and above access rates reached 531 million, accounting for 93.8 percent of the total users, an increase of 0.8 percentage points over the end of last year; and the number of fixed Internet broadband access users with 1000Mbps access rates reached 65.7 million, a net increase of 31.12 million over the end of last year, accounting for 11.6 percent of the total users.

The scale of mobile phone users is steadily increasing, and 5G users are developing rapidly. By the end of July, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises had reached 1.672 billion, a net increase of 29.41 million over the end of last year. The Internet of things accounts for nearly half of the mobile network connection terminals, and the number of IPTV users is increasing steadily. By the end of July, the three basic telecommunications enterprises had developed 1.667 billion cellular IoT end users, a net increase of 270 million over the end of last year, accounting for 49.9% of the number of mobile network terminal connections (including mobile phone users and cellular IoT end users). The total number of IPTV (Internet TV) users reached 368 million, a net increase of 19.79 million over the end of last year.

Third, the use of telecommunications services mobile Internet traffic is growing rapidly. The volume of mobile phone calls increased slightly, and the growth rate of mobile short message service revenue rebounded. From January to July, mobile phone outbound calls completed 1.32 trillion minutes, an increase of 1.1% over the same period last year, while fixed-line caller calls completed 48.35 billion minutes, down 11.8% from the same period last year. From January to July, the national mobile short message business increased by 2.1% compared with the same period last year, and the mobile short message service revenue increased by 0.8% over the same period last year, down 0.4% and 0.5 percentage points respectively from the first half of the year.

IV. Communication capacity the construction of broadband network has made steady progress, and the service capacity of gigabit network has been continuously improved. By the end of July, the number of Internet broadband access ports nationwide had reached 1.043 billion, a net increase of 25.6 million over the end of last year. Among them, the number of optical fiber access (FTTH / O) ports reached 995 million, a net increase of 35.04 million over the end of last year, accounting for 95.4 percent of the Internet broadband access ports, accounting for 1.1 percentage points higher than at the end of last year. By the end of July, the number of 10G PON ports with gigabit network service capacity reached 11.61 million, a net increase of 3.757 million over the end of last year.

The construction of 5G network is advancing rapidly. By the end of July, the total number of 5G base stations had reached 1.968 million, accounting for 18.8% of the total number of mobile base stations, accounting for 4.5 percentage points higher than at the end of last year. Among them, 543000 5G base stations were built from January to July.

Fifth, the development of the region. The eastern region takes the lead in the scale of gigabit and above access users. By the end of July, the penetration rates of 100Mbps and above fixed broadband access users in eastern, central, western and northeast regions were 93.4%, 94.8%, 93.3% and 93.8% respectively, and the number of broadband access users with access rates of 1000Mbps and above reached 34.64 million, 13.278 million, 16.35 million and 1.434 million respectively.

The eastern region takes the lead in 5G construction and users. By the end of July, the number of 5G base stations in eastern, central, western and northeast regions reached 946000, 420000, 479000 and 123000 respectively, accounting for 20.8%, 18.3%, 16.3% and 17.7% of the total number of mobile phone base stations in this region, respectively. 5G mobile phone users reached 211.57 million, 110.18 million, 121.99 million and 30.91 million respectively, accounting for 29.1%, 28.6%, 27.6% and 26.1% of the total number of mobile phone users in the region, respectively.

The growth rate of mobile Internet access traffic in the central region is the leading, and the DOU value of some western provinces is among the highest in the country. From January to July, mobile Internet access traffic in the eastern, central, western and northeast regions reached 62.21 billion GB, 33.06 billion GB, 43.46 billion GB and 7.55 billion GB, respectively, up 19.1%, 20.5%, 19.4% and 12.5% over the same period last year. In July, the average mobile Internet access traffic (DOU) of Xizang, Qinghai, Xinjiang and Yunnan provinces exceeded 20GB / household month, and the difference between the highest and lowest DOU values of each province was 15.8GB / household month, which expanded 2.4GB / household month compared with the same period last year.
