Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens for the clues of tomato fried tomato delivery! CTOnews.com, Aug. 22 (Xinhua)-- due to various revelations and the launch of Apple's Mac Studio earlier this year, expectations for the Apple Silicon Mac Pro configuration that will be launched later this year are becoming clearer and clearer. Now MacRumors has brought a summary of revelations.
The Mac Pro is one of the last Intel-based Mac models still on sale and the only Mac product line that does not use the Apple Silicon chip option. But that will soon change, meaning Apple will abandon the Intel processor altogether. In the "high-energy attack" event earlier this year, Apple even simply warmed up the launch of the Apple Silicon Mac Pro.
Earlier, it was revealed that Apple would launch a small Mac Pro model, somewhere between the Mac mini and the current Mac Pro, but the new Mac Studio will bring some inspiration.
Bloomberg Mark Gurman revealed some Apple Silicon Mac Pro chip options and specifications. According to Gurman, users will be able to choose the new Mac Pro configuration M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme chip options.
The device configuration may be as follows:
Mac Pro with M2 Ultra
20-core CPU (16 high-performance cores and 4 efficient cores)
Up to 64 cores GPU
32-core neural engine
64GB or 128GB unified memory
Mac Pro with M2 Extreme
40-core CPU (32 high-performance cores and 8 efficient cores)
Up to 128core GPU
64-core neural engine
At least 128GB or 256GB unified memory
CTOnews.com learned that by far, M1 Ultra is Apple's most powerful custom Silicon chip, equipped with 20-core CPU and up to 64-core GPU, as well as 32-core neural engine. M2 Extreme may surpass these specifications and rank above Ultra in the chip lineup to become the top Apple Silicon chip to achieve the highest performance.
According to these rumors, M2 Extreme will go beyond the current 28-core top Intel Xeon W CPU option based on Intel "Mac Pro". The known specification of M2 Extreme effectively doubles the M1 Ultra in Mac Studio, but if it is based on the more advanced 5nm manufacturing process behind the current M2 chip, there are likely to be a series of other core technologies, efficiency, and clock speed improvements.
Compared with M1 chip, M2 chip increases CPU speed by 18%, GPU performance by 35%, neural engine speed by 40%, and memory bandwidth by 50%. The performance difference between M1 Ultra and M2 Ultra is likely to be the same.
The current Mac Pro offers up to 1.5TB memory, and the $25000 configuration option is available for $11999 and $12999 Mac Pro models with 24-core and 28-core CPU. Because Apple Silicon Mac uses unified memory instead of the traditional DDR4 ECC memory used in current Mac Pro, the former seems to have much less available memory.
M1 series chips follow a clear system to increase unified memory options. M1 provides 8GB or 16GB Magi M1 Pro provides 16GB or 32GB Magi M1 Max provides 32GB or 64GB Magi M1 Ultra provides 64GB or 128GB. Therefore, it seems reasonable to assume that any new Extreme chip on top of Ultra will provide 128GB and 256GB unified memory options. The M2 chip adds the 24GB memory option, so it is possible for Apple to provide larger 192GB and 384GB unified memory with the new Mac Pro.
The Mac Pro currently starts at $5999, and custom configurations could be priced at as much as $52000. The M2 Ultra basic Apple Silicon Mac Pro will certainly be more expensive than the M1 Ultra high-end Mac Studio (starting at $3999). It seems likely that the new basic model Mac Pro will continue to start at a price similar to that of the current model, but there is no further information on pricing.
In addition to the basic specifications, little is known about the design, port and modularity of the device. Apple is expected to launch Apple Silicon Mac Pro later this year, followed by Studio Display Pro in early 2023, which supports mini-LED panels and ProMotion dynamic refresh rates.
