Chongqing, Zhejiang and Hubei provinces and cities will carry out pilot projects in the first batch, covering nearly 350,000 charging piles, and will appropriately adjust the charging power during the peak hours from 3 pm to 10:00 to stabilize the peak load, CCTV reported. At the same time, State Grid will also issue 50% discount coupons on charging service fees through mobile phone charging clients to guide electric vehicle owners to recharge at night and other troughs.

Data show that the number of electric vehicles in the three provinces and cities involved in off-peak charging is nearly 800000. According to the Ministry of Public Security, by the end of June 2022, the number of motor vehicles in China had reached 406 million, including 310 million cars and 10.01 million new energy vehicles.
