Public data show that the blade battery is a new type of lithium iron phosphate battery independently developed by BYD. Compared with the ternary lithium battery, the blade battery has the characteristics of high safety, long cycle life and low cost, the energy density can reach 180wh/kg, and the volume is nearly 50% higher than that of the previous generation BYD battery, which greatly improves the overall life span of the vehicle.

CTOnews.com learned that in July 2021, a record disclosed by BYD showed that all of the company's pure electric cars had been replaced with blade batteries.

In June 2022, BYD said on the investor interaction platform that the blade batteries in its pure electric models were square cells.

Wang Chuanfu, CEO of BYD, previously pointed out that the first half of the new energy vehicle is electric and the second half is intelligent. In this regard, BYD said that the company attaches full importance to intelligent cars, and through equity investment and joint ventures and other ways of intelligent industrial chain layout.
