According to the data, in July, automobile production and sales completed 245.5 million and 2.42 million vehicles respectively, down 1.8% and 3.3% respectively from the previous month, and an increase of 31.5% and 29.7% respectively over the same period last year. From January to July, automobile production and sales reached 1457.1 million and 14.477 million respectively, with production up 0.8 per cent and sales down 2 per cent year-on-year.

At an information conference, Chen Shihua, deputy secretary-general of the China Automobile Association, said that in the first half of this year, profits in China's automobile industry fell 25.5% compared with the same period last year, while revenue fell only 4% in the same period, which is very unhealthy. Especially in the field of new energy vehicles, the profits of upstream enterprises have soared, but downstream enterprises have not even been able to drink soup.

"through several years of technological upgrading and program optimization, the price of our power battery has dropped a lot, but our efforts for several years have been wiped out because of the rise in the price of raw materials." Chen Shihua believes that the current price of lithium carbonate is in an abnormal state.

Xu Haidong, deputy chief engineer of the China Automobile Association, said that recently, due to the decline in demand for consumer chips, it is beneficial for chip companies to shift their production capacity to automotive chips. But in fact, the chip shortage still exists, and it is still affecting the automotive industry, especially second-tier brands, often facing more serious chip problems, and even unable to get accessories such as Bosch ESP.

CTOnews.com has reported that data from the China Automobile Association show that China's production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 617,000 and 593000 respectively in July, an increase of 1.2 times over the same period last year.

Of these, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles completed 472,000 and 457000 respectively, an increase of 100% and 1.1 times respectively over the same period last year; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles completed 144,000 and 135000 vehicles respectively, an increase of 1.820 times and 1.7 times respectively over the same period last year; and fuel cell vehicles completed 292 vehicles, 10 and 245 vehicles, respectively, up 4.6 times and 13.4% respectively over the same period last year.

From January to July this year, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 327.9 million and 3.194 million respectively, an increase of 1.2 times over the same period last year. Among them, the production and marketing of pure electric vehicles reached 257.4 million and 251. 5% respectively. The production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles reached 720 million and 674000 respectively, an increase of 1.9 times and 1.7 times respectively, and that of fuel cell vehicles reached 2094 and 1633 respectively, an increase of 2.1 times and 1.3 times respectively.

It is worth mentioning that some domestic car companies have long complained about the current problem of high-priced raw materials, and many car companies have been calling for rational price reduction. For example, at the 2022 World Power Battery Congress, GAC GROUP Chairman Zeng Qinghong publicly joked that he was "working for the Ningde era," and then Ningde Times Chairman Zeng Yuqun responded, "it is the capital hype of upstream raw materials. It has brought short-term trouble to the power battery industry chain, and the prices of upstream materials such as lithium carbonate, lithium hexafluorophosphate and petroleum coke have all skyrocketed."
