CTOnews.com, August 11 (Xinhua)-- folding screen phones are still the fastest-growing smartphone category this year, according to a report released today by Counterpoint Research, which is expected to grow 73% to 16 million units in 2022 compared with the same period last year.

Among them, Samsung continues to take the lead, accounting for 62% of the folding screen mobile phone market in the first half of this year. With the launch of new Galaxy Fold 4 and Flip 4 models, the report expects that proportion to jump to 80 per cent in the second half of the year.

CTOnews.com learned that Counterpoint Research forecast data show that the global folding screen smartphone market will grow 73% to 16 million units this year from 9 million last year, and is expected to continue to show strong growth next year, with 26 million folding screen phones expected to grow by 2023.

In June 2022, Samsung occupied the main market share of folding screen smartphones in the first half of 2022, accounting for 62% of the total market share; Huawei and OPPO were second and third, respectively.
