CTOnews.com, August 11 (Xinhua)-- Boeing delivered a Boeing 787 Dreamliner to American Airlines on August 10, local time, according to the Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC), the first such aircraft to resume delivery since delivery was suspended in May 2021.

American Airlines (American Airlines) CEO Robert Isom said on Instagram that the company had received new deliveries from the Boeing 787plant in South Carolina.

The Boeing 787 is an ultra-long-range medium-sized airliner launched in December 2009. CTOnews.com learned that Boeing halted deliveries of the 787Dreamliner at the end of 2020 because of production defects.

Boeing has been unable to deliver Dreamliners for most of the past two years. Boeing said earlier this year that production defects and falling production during delivery would cost it $5.5 billion (about 37.015 billion yuan).

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said this week that it had approved Boeing to resume delivery, which will begin this week. FAA pointed out that Billy Nolen, acting director of FAA, visited the factory last Thursday and met with FAA safety inspectors to discuss measures to improve production quality.
