Today, Lenovo Group Chairman and CEO Yang Yuanqing said at the Lenovo Group's first financial quarter results communication meeting that Lenovo will not build cars in the visible future, and Lenovo Research Institute is conducting some forward-looking research on the future computing field. These car-related R & D personnel will focus on Lenovo's new IT architecture and expand new areas.

Yang Yuanqing said, "We will develop the business boundary from computers to a broader field of computing, and in the future, including cars, we will also seriously study how we can adapt to the new needs in the future. We believe that future computing is scene-based computing, such as work, entertainment, sports and car scenes, around different scenarios, to build Lenovo's computing power."

CTOnews.com learned that Yang Yuanqing stressed at Lenovo's 2020 fiscal year results communication meeting in May last year that Lenovo would definitely not build cars. "We have a sufficiently wide track and a clear strategy, and we will focus our limited resources and energy on the already clear track."

Today, Lenovo announced its results for the first quarter (April-June) of fiscal year 2022. The results show that Lenovo's revenue in the first quarter is nearly 112 billion yuan, an increase of 0.2% over the same period last year, excluding exchange rate fluctuations. Net profit is 3.4 billion yuan, an increase of 11% over the same period last year, and net profit using non-Hong Kong financial reporting standards is 3.67 billion yuan, an increase of 35% over the same period last year.
