According to officials, compared with QLC SSD, PLC SSD can store 5 bits of data in each storage cell, increasing the amount of data stored by 25 per cent in the same space. Thereby reducing the cost, space and energy consumption of storage.

Officials say PLC NAND can be produced on QLC NAND devices, Solidigm PLC SSD products can be launched soon, and Solidigm PLC SSD will be the first to be used in data center solutions. The exact launch date has not been announced.

CTOnews.com learned that Solidigm, originally part of Intel's storage business, is now an independent subsidiary of SK Hynix in the United States. Headquartered in San Jose, California, Solidigm has nearly 2000 employees and offices in 20 regions around the world.
