This article mainly introduces VMware Pro 14 how to install Ubuntu 18.04, has a certain reference value, interested friends can refer to, I hope you can learn a lot after reading this article, the following let the editor take you to know about it.

1. Download and install VMware Workstation Pro 14

Go to the VMware official website or download the latest version of the VMware virtual machine and install it in the software store

two。 Download Ubuntu 18.04 system

Go to the Ubuntu official website and download the latest version of Ubuntu system image

3. Create a virtual machine in VMware

Open the installed VMware Workstation Pro 14 and select to create a new virtual machine

Select Custom (Advanced) in the New Virtual Machine wizard

By default, go straight to the next step until the following figure appears, and then choose to install the operating system later.

Select Linux as the client operating system, Ubuntu version if your computer is 32-bit, and Ubuntu 64-bit version if 64-bit

Change the name and location of the virtual machine

Specify the number of processors for the virtual machine, which is fine by default

Allocating memory to a virtual machine, too large may lead to stutter, too small is not good, recommended memory size is fine

You can choose default as follows

Select to create a new virtual disk

Choose to save the virtual disk as a single file

Default next step

Click finish

At this point, we can see the newly created virtual machine Ubuntu 64-bit under "my computer" on the left side of the virtual machine. Click Ubuntu 64-bit, select "Edit Virtual Machine Settings", select "CD/DVD (SATA)", select "use ISO image file", click "Browse", find the previously downloaded Ubuntu 64-bit image file, and click "OK".

4. Install the Ubuntu system on the virtual machine

Click Ubuntu 64-bit and select "turn on this virtual machine"

Go to the welcome screen, choose a good language, and click "install Ubuntu".

Select the keyboard layout as "Chinese"

Updates and other software can be selected by default

Select "erase the whole disk and install Ubuntu" as the installation type, PS: because we are a newly installed system and are in a virtual machine, we can choose to clear the entire disk. This operation will not clear the contents of your original computer.

Feel free to do whatever you want in China. Default is fine.

Then set the computer name and password

Click continue and wait a moment before the installation is complete.

Some problems that may occur during installation 1. Stuck in the process of installing the Ubuntu system on the virtual machine

Solution: shut down the network and reinstall it

2.Ubuntu cannot be displayed in full screen.

Solution:

Method ①: install open-vm-tools:

one

Sudo apt-get install open-vm-tools

Then execute:

one

Sudo apt-get install open-vm*

Full screen display can be achieved by rebooting

Method ②: enter xrandr on the terminal and enter, we can see a lot of resolution that can be modified. After selecting a good resolution, for example, if we want to modify the resolution to 1920x1440, enter xrandr-s 1920x1440 on the terminal and enter. Note that there is a lowercase letter x in the middle of 1920x1440. I personally test that this method is not perfect and can not fully adapt to the screen.

Method ③: install VMware Tools:

1. After entering the Ubuntu system, click * * Virtual Machine * *-> * * install VMware Tools * * on the virtual machine, and you will see a VMware Tools icon when you return to the desktop.

2. Copy VMwareTools-10.0.10-4301679.tar.gz (version depends on your actual situation) to the home directory, and decompress it with the command tar-xzvf VMwareTools-10.0.10-4301679.tar.gz.

3. Open the terminal after decompression of cd vmware_tools_distrib.

4. Enter "sudo. / vmware-install.pl", enter the user's password and start the installation.

5. There will be many places where you need to press Enter or Yes

6. When you see the word-the vmware team, you can close the window, and the window will be full screen automatically. If there is no full screen, you can restart it.

7. If there is no full screen display, select * * View * *-> * * Auto Resize * *-> * * Adaptive client * * to achieve full screen display.
