Service registration:

Through the service registration function, the PMON process dynamically registers the instance information with the listener so that the listener can forward the client's connection request to the appropriate service handler. PMON provides for listeners

The following information is obtained:

1. The name of the database service provided by the database

two。 The name of the database instance associated with the service, and its current and maximum load.

3. Service handlers (dispatchers and dedicated servers) available to the instance, including their type, protocol address, current load, and maximum load

Service registration is dynamic and does not need to be configured in the listener.ora file. Dynamic registration reduces the overhead of managing multiple databases or instances.

The initialization parameter SERVICE_NAMES lists the services to which the instance belongs. At startup, each instance and other instances belonging to the same service are registered with all listeners. During the database operation, the instance of each service passes information about CPU usage and current connection count to all listeners listening to the same service. This kind of communication realizes dynamic load balancing and connection failover.
