Log service content is divided into: project => logstore => shard

2. Shardshard automatic split: it will automatically split when the following conditions are met

When the amount of data written exceeds the write service capacity of the current Shard and lasts for more than 5 minutes.

The number of shards in the readwrite state in Logstore does not exceed the set maximum total number of shards.

Note: New shards that split within the last 15 minutes will not split automatically.

You can turn on auto-splitting when creating logstore and set the maximum number of shards to split

shard merge

By shrinking the Shard with a merge operation, the logging service automatically finds the adjacent Shard to the right of the specified Shard and merges the two Shards.

When merging shards, you must specify a Shard that is readwrite and cannot be the last Shard that is readwrite.

When the merge is complete, the specified Shard and its neighboring Shard to the right become readonly. At the same time, a new Shard in readwrite state is generated, and the MD5 range of the new Shard covers the range of the original two Shards.
