Log logging problems with Xshell

Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--

When using Xshell for network equipment configuration and maintenance, we often need to backup the configuration. When we choose "start logging", we also record the log before the recording time. This will cause you to back up a lot of unnecessary information in the log file: for example, you show ip os nei before recording the log, and then start recording the configuration file show run. When you open the log file, you find that the information before show run show ip os nei has also been recorded, which is what we do not want.

The reason for the problem: this is due to the setting of the "scroll buffer", which means the amount of information you can view after opening the Session. When the "scroll buffer" is set to "0", the configuration backup file will return to normal.

Solution:

Maintain a separate set of Session: the "roll buffer" of this Session is set to "0" and is only used for configuration backup

If you do not maintain a separate set of Session, set the "scroll buffer" in the Session to "0" every time you need to do a configuration backup, and then set it to another value when you run out of it.

Setting method: find the session you want to set-> right-click "Properties"-> find "Terminal" in the category-> find "scroll buffer"-> modify the value of "buffer size" (such as "line 0").
