This problem usually occurs when Exchange and POP are used together.

[problem phenomenon]

Email receiving and sending, can receive, send when reporting "unknown problem... 0x80040201 error". Reinstalling Office is still not a solution.

[cause of the problem]

This problem is uncommon and usually occurs only in cases where you used the Exchange protocol to connect to the mail server and then changed to Pop3 mode.

There is no problem with changing Exchange to Pop3 itself, but when you enter the recipient's address at this time, Outlook will take the initiative to replace it with an easy name. This replacement has a problem: Outlook still remembers the email address obtained actively from the Exchange server, which cannot be understood by the Pop3 protocol (or the server that handles the Pop3 protocol), so it tells you an unknown error.

[solution]

Never reinstall Office, it doesn't make sense. The key point is to delete everything under the: C:\ Documents and Settings\\ Application Data\ Microsoft\ Outlook folder. Among them is your login account.
