Microsoft announced the release of Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21277 (RS_PRERELEASE), the latest test version of the Windows 10 operating system for members of Windows Insider programs. The full build number is 21277.1000.rs_prerelease.201207-1443.

Build 21277 has been released on the Developer channel (formerly fast track) and belongs to the new RS_PRERELEASE branch, while Build 20277 belongs to the FE_RELEASE branch.

What's New in Windows 10 Build 21277

Unlike in FE_RELEASE, Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21277 provides two new features: adding x64 emulation support for Windows 10 on ARM and adding support for Unicode Emoji 12.1 and 13.0.

Because of the new x64 emulation feature in this new update, users can now use x64 applications on ARM devices. After installing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21277, users can test the functionality of x64 emulation on Windows 10 on ARM by installing applications on x64 systems from Microsoft Store or any other location they choose.

Microsoft warns that for Windows 10 ARM x64 emulation support to work properly and achieve the best x64 application performance on Samsung Galaxy Book SMagne Lenovo Flex 5G Acer Spin 7 and Microsoft Surface Pro X devices, users need to install an updated preview of the Qualcomm Adreno graphics driver.

In addition, if testers need to check for simultaneous execution of c++ARM64 and x64 applications on the system, Microsoft recommends installing a pre-version of the ARM64 C++ package.

Microsoft explained that it has tested the simulator on Autodesk Sketchbook,Rocket League and Chrome, which previously ran as 32-bit applications on ARM64. They can now run as 64-bit applications on ARM's Windows 10 using the new x64 emulation capabilities.

Microsoft also added support for Unicode Emojis 12.1 and 13.0. This has brought users more than 200 new emoticons and updated existing emoticons with gender-neutral designs, and you can now select matching male or female designs in the emoji bar and touch keyboard.
